Co-Editing allows more than one author contributor to edit a file simultaneously.
Co-Editing is a feature of the software used to edit the file and is not an attribute or characteristic of a file itself.

- Randolph uses the Microsoft 365 Office suite for editing files (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
- Randolph also uses Egnyte for file and document storage.
Add Egnyte as a Place
To insure Co-Editing works together with both Microsoft and Egnyte, you must connect Egnyte as a known storage location for Microsoft 365.
Open any Microsoft Application (e.g. Word), go to the Open menu, if Egnyte is not already displayed, then select "Add a Place".
Then select Egnyte as your cloud storage location, provide your Randolph work account information and allow Egnyte to connect.
You only need to perform this setup once, and only for one Microsoft application - Office Suite shall add Egnyte to all licensed Office applications.
Saving File Changes
To ensure co-editing is triggered when using Save As, you must directly select Egnyte as the storage location (instead of navigating through Browse or This PC). This ensures that the file is saved correctly AND co-editing is enabled.
This Save As practice should be followed for all Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
NOTE:
If you are sharing/co-editing many files in a team, inform the users files to practice and adhere to this recommended behavior from Egnyte.
