Normally "pop-up" blocking is enabled on computer systems used for business activity.  The technic to use a pop-up notification lends itself more towards advertising use, which can be distractive and disruptive to productive business procedures.  Some web sites, however, may use pop-up notifications for beneficial awareness to its visitors and users of the site.


In performing your work activities visiting web sites, you may find a need to enable (white list) or disable (black list) web sites from using pop-ups.  Most common web browsers have settings for you to manage this feature.



To change pop-up settings in the Microsoft Edge browser

 

Step 1: Open the Microsoft Edge Web browser, and select Settings (the three dots at top right of main browser window)


   

 


Step 2: From the menu that appears, choose the Settings option, towards the bottom of the menu


   


Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of this Settings menu, and select Cookies and site permissions


   


Step 5: Scroll down the permission settings and Select Pop-ups and redirects


   


Step 6: Adjust the permission settings to meet your needs.


Use the Block toggle (mode) to disable/enable Pop-Up blocking on ALL websites.  Slide switch to RIGHT to enable Blocking 


To manage pop-up blocking per web site, use the [Add] buttons to include a URL (website address) into the Block (pop-ups disabled) or Allow (pop-ups allowed) list.  Note that the Block toggle setting must be enabled for Blocking, for the Block and Allow lists to be in use.
